Local LDAP client with remote LDAP server

I am having a query regarding the local LDAP client configuration with remote LDAP server.

Configured LDAP client and LDAP server through yast in local and remote SLES10 (LINUX).

Now, when I am trying to connect to remote LDAP server with local LDAP client, it's throwing an
error saying that "cannot connect to LDAP server". when I further clicked on the 'show details'
button on the same error window, it says "invalid credentials" .

I have installed and configured the Local and remote LDAP as user root and also used root password at the time of configuring LDAP.

The settings which I have made in the ldap.conf (local) file is that, I have pointed the "host" to use remote LDAP server hostname.
host = "remote hostname"

I am able to configure local LDAP client with local LDAP server successfully and able to create an ldap user.

Can anyone suggest me with the procedure and also correct me if I had missed anything with the configuration files.

Please Check with attached Configuration files ldap.conf and slapd.conf
